Galtzada Bideona
Galtzada wine comes from an exceptional and unique vineyard in the municipality of Lanciego, in Rioja Alavesa. Planted in 1952, this small vineyard of just 0.47 hectares is special because it’s an old, single-variety Garnacha vineyard, which is very unusual for the area. Its location at 593 meters of altitude and the confluence of Atlantic and Mediterranean climatic influences create the perfect environment for this variety, giving it a distinctive personality.
The winemaking process for Galtzada focuses on respecting the singularity of its vineyard. The grapes, harvested by hand, are fermented in small wooden vats with very gentle extraction techniques to avoid masking the character of the terroir. Afterward, the wine is aged in used Austrian oak barrels. The result is a cool-climate Garnacha that balances the elegance and delicacy of the variety with the fruit depth of old vines and a distinctive mineral tension characteristic of the soils of Rioja Alavesa.
